Together we can contribute to providing better health for the South West

__________________________________________________________________

Information for applicants

The Foundation is an independent, volunteer lay organisation.  It promotes health research in the South West.   It has no endowment funds or income other than current community fund raising.

The Foundation will assist with project and partnership development, application for external grants etc.

The Board will support selected research proposals which should

·          Be for research done in and relevant to the SW.

·          Comprehensible to and relevant for the donating public

·          Have clear time frames

·          Have clearly defined objectives

·          A scientific committee will assess the academic merit of the proposal

·          A signed contract with timelines for fund release will be required

·          A steering committee with VLF and researcher representation will oversee progress to completion

The Foundation requires all funds to be in hand before a project commences.  This can take a year or two for a project costing $150,000 and researchers are advised to apply for funding well in advance.

Limited pre–commencement funding for literature search, development of research instruments, training and obtaining ethical approval may be granted to approved projects.
